Altman is a worldwide leader in the development and production of cleanroom cranes. Our team of experts have designed, manufactured and assembled the biggest cleanroom crane worldwide to date, a 20 double girder overhead travelling crane each with a 12-ton load capacity and a range of 9,050 mm.

Our goal is to continuously set new quality standards for cleanroom cranes and for the industries in which they are used. Cleanroom cranes by Altmann are used in various industries, for example in the food and semiconductor industry, the aerospace engineering industry and many more. The machines are adapted to each industry’s specific requirements, for example, through suitable crane attachments or varying lifting heights. The cleanliness and hygiene standards of all our branches are always maintained in order to preserve the purity in production spaces. Altmann produces cleanroom cranes with special materials, surfaces and lubricants which don’t contaminate the air in cleanrooms and thus, don’t affect production.



In many manufacturing processes ever increasing demands are placed upon the purity of production facilities (clean room crane etc.).

Standardized mass-produced products can no longer meet these requirements. A number of specific aspects must be considered, particularly in food processing plants with their high demands regarding purity and hygiene and even more in clean and ultra-clean rooms where each microscopic dirt particle is measured (see chart 1-3)

The choice of the correct component surfaces, lubricants, avoidance of abrasion and prevention from evaporating substances are only some aspects which have to be considered in order to install an appropriate crane system complying with the corresponding application (clean room crane, suspension crane, trolley, etc.) Each error in production and assembly will have an adverse effect within a short time. If these important factors are neglected, this will result in:

  • Expensive repairs (especially on proper contaminated products),
  • Increased expenditure for maintenance (e.g. filter systems) and at worst
  • Expensive downtimes.

We develop and produce reliable clean room cranes up to the clean room categories of ISO 6 (ISO 146441), 4 (VDI 2083) and 1000 (US FED STD 209E). The corresponding clean room crane (suspension crane, trolley, etc.) is tailored to the individual need of the customer.
